11 December 2014 Haiku Writing Station
I ran a Haiku unit during our monthly history club meeting. (This month’s topics included medieval Japan). I worked with two groups that self-separated along gender lines. The boys wrote a haiku about an octopus:
Stretching gracefully
The water’s blackened with ink
He is a rainbow
The girls wrote a haiku about a kitten:
The kitten is soft
She purrs loudly as she sleeps
She has sad blue eyes.
And a bonus haiku from the boys about chickens. They were tickled that they got this one to rhyme:
Smelly chicken poop
Generous egg-laying beasts
They live in a coop.
