Or I could title this: Chromatography in the kitchen. What happens when you put a drop of food coloring on a paper towel and then submerge one end of the paper towel in water? The water travels up through the paper towel and then through the color blot. Molecules that are attracted to the water flow with it, and those that prefer paper towel mostly stay put. Result? Color separation. Very cool. Sam wanted to do this over and over and over. (I’m going to be putting the food coloring and paper towel people’s kids through college….)
