Sam drew a self-portrait in which her hands and feet were caked in mud and dirt. “This is me when I’m happy,” she said.

She spent the afternoon playing with her friends in the woods today. They refurbished a stick hut, painted mud on the walls and rigged a tree bark door. By the looks of her hands and feet, it was a very good day.
