10 November 2012 Hidden Casualties of War

Came across this exhibit on the downtown mall today. Each pair of black military boots symbolizes a Virginian soldier who has died in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. On the other side of the wall were row after row of regular street shoes, representing Iraqi and Afghani civilians who have been killed in the wars. Many of the shoes were child-sized.
