Dishwasher Update

I apologize for the lack of photos lately. Since the freak storm last week we’ve been without internet service frequently and even lost power for a little while, although thankfully did not suffer the extreme outages that many of our friends had.

You’ll see that our friend the boxed-up dishwasher is still not in the kitchen. Here it makes a surprise appearance in the dining room. The installers were supposed to come last Thursday. They did not. They did show up last night (Friday) only to tell us that the dishwasher we purchased won’t fit in the space that we have. It’s 1/2 inch too tall. The installers left. We slapped our foreheads. There may have been some swearing. And we wondered why none of the plumbers who looked at the space realized that it wouldn’t fit.

So the new plan? Hack our cabinetry. AC thinks that he can rip out some of the wooden supports underneath the countertop to create enough space to make it fit. We’re talking 1/2 inch. What’s the worse that can happen? We figure we might as well enjoy the fulls benefits of home ownership, which surely includes the right to destroy one’s kitchen counter. Stay tuned!
