3 June 2012 Humpback Rocks
None of us wanted to leave West Virginia. None of us wanted to stop being on vacation. So on the drive home we stopped for one last outing up to Humpback Rocks, off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Total walk was 2.5 miles and 1/2 of that was straight up to the rocks. Just as we reached the summit, the wind picked up and we could see a rain cloud steadily moving in our direction. Sam found cover from the wind at her father’s back. But during the descent we got dumped on. Raincoats were conveniently located back in the car. But for some reason, getting caught in the rain (alas, no pina coladas) did make it feel like a proper vacation.
