Earthquake Evidence

Three unexpected things happened today:

  1. One of the editors at Highlights magazine emailed me that she is recommending my revised story for purchase.
  2. We felt a 5.8 magnitude earthquake this afternoon in central Virginia. I couldn’t figure out why the house was shaking. This is the east coast… I’m not in California anymore… right?
  3. Our car battery died–completely died–while we had dinner out at a restaurant to celebrate #1 It died so hard that jumping it didn’t work. It died so hard that roll starting didn’t work. Luckily AutoZone was nearby and open till 10PM and we were able to buy a new battery and install it.

In all three things we were lucky. Very lucky.
