Book Club

Book Club met tonight, bedecked in Mardi Gras beads, to discuss Chris Rose’s 1 Dead in Attic. The book of essays about life in post-Katrina New Orleans is devastating, poignant, humorous and often Just Too Much.

I got to take home the Mardi Gras beads for Sam. She was thrilled, though puzzled as to why anyone would want to give them up. I hope we’ll take Sam to New Orleans one day, though after reading this book it weighs on me that I can’t show her the New Orleans that I visited 10 years ago.
