18 July 2011 Our Temporary Wheels

On Friday at just a few minutes to 5PM, our car’s engine went kerplouey. (How do cars know to wait until the weekend when most mechanics don’t work?) This morning we had it towed to the dealership where we bought it (just 6 months ago!) and the engine trouble *should* be covered under warranty. In the meantime we had to rent a car for the week because it is just too impractical to get around this town without a vehicle. (Example: to get Sam to gymnastics today would have required 3 buses and 3 hours. In a car the trip is 20 minutes.) We lived car-less in the UK and I never missed it. I loved walking everywhere. I loved taking buses and trains. Does this make me un-American? Probably.
