The Chattri

We hiked a couple of miles from Patcham to The Chattri– a war memorial for the Indian soldiers who fought for the British in World War I. “Chattri” means “umbrella” in Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu. The memorial was built on top of the original crematory, but the ashes of the dead were scattered at sea.
