Swim the Turtle

I’m spoiling Sam’s present to a friend of ours whose birthday happens to be tomorrow. (I’m hoping that she won’t read my blog until then!) Sam decided to write her a story and this is page one of the results. Here it is transcribed with the phonetic spelling edited:

For Swim the Turtle

It was Swim the Turtle’s birthday.
He was turning four.

Wanna see the rest? OK, here is page two:

Then came Swim’s presents. He loved them. But one toy was different. It was very funny.
One night the strange toy went beside Swim’s bed and it spoke.
It said, “Come to Narnia.”
“Yes,” said Swim.
So they went.
When they got to Narnia the toy told its story.
It was a faun.

A toy that used to be a faun? How did that happen? I know, the suspense is killing you. All right, all right, here’s the rest:

Four years ago the faun had been a baby. But then he grew and the faun explained that its mum and dad were dead.
And Swim said, “That was interesting.”
And then Swim woke up and looked for the toy. But it wasn’t there.
It was all a dream.

I couldn’t have ended it better myself. (Seriously.)
