Brighton Hatches a Band

More Fringe Festival Zaniness: Last Saturday three members of a local (Sussex) band called “The Myst” went to live inside a giant egg on the Brighton seafront, across the street from our building. This afternoon, they hatched, all smiles and waves, and then hopped onto an adjacent stage to play a 3-hour gig.

While they were getting ready to play, an announcer briefly interviewed each band member about his experience in the egg. “Amazing!” “Brilliant!” “Trippy!” Nothing but rosy reports of the egg lifestyle. But then when the announcer went back to the lead guitarist and asked him to describe the best and worst moments of his 7-day egg confinement, he blew her off: “I just want to get on with the gig.”

It didn’t take much to crack the polished shell of this publicity stunt.
