Potty the Pirate

This afternoon while AC was out at Sailing School, Sam and I went to Pirate school, courtesy of the Brighton Fringe Festival. Part school, part magic show, “Potty the Pirate” took place at the Friends’ Meeting House, which probably heard more noise there this afternoon than it has in the last two hundred years. Mostly “Argghhhs,” “Yo, ho, ho’s,” and, predictably, guffaws in response to potty humor.

Potty himself made Sam her pirate sword, after she befuddled him with her American accent when she told him her name.

“Where do you hail from?”

“CaliFORnia.”

“Ah, welcome to sunny England!” Potty cried. It was drizzling.

At school we learned pirate magic tricks, pirate cheers, a pirate dance, and some dreadful pirate puns. AC will be thrilled about those. Once he’s got his Royal Yachting Association credentials it could indeed be the pirate life for us.
