Hand and Foot Lobsters

Share on:

Lobsters always makes me think of Annie Hall. Sam and I didn’t try to drop any live ones in a pot of boiling water but in our creation of the crusty crustaceans we did manage to get paint EVERYwhere, resulting in much giggling and hopping and contorting of bodies on our way to the tub.

First we painted Sam’s hands and one foot with red paint:

Red foot

Then we printed these on some paper. Unfortunately we reversed the hands, so Sam’s lobster claws are backwards.

Add in some antennae and eyes and voilà! Sam’s lobster:

Sam's lobster

And then we did mine:

Mom's lobster

THEN Sam looked at all the other paints we had and wanted to see what would happen if we mixed them. And then what would happen if she painted her body with them:

Purple hands

Painted legs

What happens is that you laugh a lot and then realize that you’re two rooms away from the bathroom and the vaguely responsible one has one foot painted red and must try to hop to the tub to wash up BEFORE the little one takes it into her head to jump up and press little purple footprints into the hardwood floor. The RENTED hardwood floor.

Have I publicly thanked the world enough for washable paint?

THANKS.

And also thanks to Just for Fun for the idea and instructions
