Things I Will Not Miss about Brighton and the U.K.
-
Debit card fraud (I know that can happen anywhere, but still)
-
The plumbing
-
The traffic lights for pedestrians. It takes AGES for the light to turn green and in the meantime everyone has jaywalked already.
-
The cigarette smoke. Not allowed in pubs and public buildings, so everyone smokes outside, while they’re walking. And I do mean everyone.
-
The crush of people on the pavement, especially during weekends. More than once I have been reminded of Times Square at Christmas time.
-
The weather
-
The viruses. One particularly nasty one has pummeled poor Sammy’s immune system and she is sicker than I have ever seen her. One of AC’s colleagues joked today that the viruses in Europe are older (and therefore stronger) than those in America.
-
Pharmacies that claim to be open until midnight but in fact close at 8PM (see #7).
-
Debit card fraud (Yeah, that really sucked).
