Things I Will Not Miss about Brighton and the U.K.

Share on:
  1. Debit card fraud (I know that can happen anywhere, but still)

  2. The plumbing

  3. The traffic lights for pedestrians. It takes AGES for the light to turn green and in the meantime everyone has jaywalked already.

  4. The cigarette smoke. Not allowed in pubs and public buildings, so everyone smokes outside, while they’re walking. And I do mean everyone.

  5. The crush of people on the pavement, especially during weekends. More than once I have been reminded of Times Square at Christmas time.

  6. The weather

  7. The viruses. One particularly nasty one has pummeled poor Sammy’s immune system and she is sicker than I have ever seen her. One of AC’s colleagues joked today that the viruses in Europe are older (and therefore stronger) than those in America.

  8. Pharmacies that claim to be open until midnight but in fact close at 8PM (see #7).

  9. Debit card fraud (Yeah, that really sucked).
