Animal Fair

One of Sam’s favorite activities is to flip the pages of her nursery rhyme book and sing along. In fact, if she’s ever at a loss for words, she’ll just start reciting “Mary had a little lamb,” or “Pop goes the weasel.” Incongruous, yes, although sometimes “that’s the way the money goes” is a great conversation filler.

Here she is reciting/singing “Animal Fair.”

I went to animal fair.
The birds and the beasts were there.
The big baboon by the light of the moon
Was combing his auburn hair.

The monkey he got drunk,
And slid down the elephant’s trunk.
The elephant sneezed and fell to his knees,
But what became of the monkey?
Monkey monkey monk.

What did become of the monkey? See, these are the things I muse about now…
