Spiders and Monkeys and Bears Oh My
Two anecdotes about creatures popping up in the house where I do not expect them to be:
I got out of bed on Saturday morning to feed Camus, only to discover that he had had several “accidents” in various places on the living room floor. I gather my cleaning supplies (would that such accidents were a rare occurrence) and return to the living room, where I nearly walk into… a spider and her web. Gah! Yes, it’s spider season again here in the East Bay. I wrote about this last year, and am now careful enough to avoid or dismantle the webs that crop up hourly in the back yard. Still, every now and then I run into one. (As Sam is so fond of repeating: “Mommy walked inna spider web!”) But to find one in my own house?! A large web hanging over my desk?! The nerve.
I’m in the kitchen, preparing dinner. I reach down to the cabinet where I store the salad bowl, because I am about to make a salad. Instead of the salad bowl, I find two stuffed bears and a monkey.
And now I’m wondering if Sammy let the spider in…
