The State of Sleeping Beauty

I haven’t written at all on this blog about my scholarly projects. That’s because I have an academic’s habit of keeping those sorts of thing close to the vest. But as I am no longer officially affiliated with the academy, perhaps it’s time to loosen up. I’ve added a new category for my posts, called “Scholarly.” And here’s the first scholarly update: I believe that I have finally put Sleeping Beauty to bed.

Yes, this post is just an excuse for the pun! But seriously. In July, I completed the revisions to “Sleeping Beauty Must Die: The Plots of Perrault’s ‘La Belle au bois dormant'” for Marvels and Tales: Journal of Fairy Tale Studies. They plan to publish it in the fall of 2008.

It felt really good to finish something that I started when Sam was still in the womb. Amusing, too, that I revised the article during Sam’s daily naps.
