Night #3
Sam woke up on her own this morning at 7:10AM, after another decent night. She cried once around 2AM, but not for more than a minute or two. Once again, she had only one nap today, around 10:30AM, but we let her go longer– til about 12:20 when she woke up on her own, and NOT crying. (It’s been a long time since she has awoken from a nap without crying.) We were out and about exploring the Rockridge neighborhood in Oakland in the afternoon when started to nod off in the Ergo carrier. However, it was too late for her to nap then– around 4 or 4:30– without messing up her bedtime. It was quite serendipitous, then, that we found a cool baby/kid’s store on College Ave in Rockridge. We ducked in there, got her out of the carrier, and the sight of so many other kids, colors, and toys was like a jolt of caffeine to her system. In no time she was tromping around holding onto her Daddy’s fingers, and trying to reorganize the store’s bookshelves.
Once again Sam was ready for bedtime. We put her in the crib at 9PM. She protested for about 5 minutes, and then fell silent and shortly thereafter, asleep.
We’ll see how this all goes during the week when AC is not around during the day. And somehow we’ve got to get her more nap time during the day. Not sure if we need to push her nap later, so that she does it all in one chunk, or if the morning nap should be earlier to create more room for the afternoon nap. After months of keeping track of Sam’s sleep, though, I’ve noticed that she really doesn’t seem to tire in the morning until after about 3.5 hours.
