After a pretty good night’s sleep in the sleeper car, we had breakfast in the dining car while the train trundled through Indiana. Indiana in the early morning struck us as foggy and flat.

An errand took us to Staunton and we decided to stay and have dinner and maybe catch the opening night of “A Christmas Carol” at the American Shakespeare Center. Total fail on that last as we were unwilling to stand in the rain for an hour and when we went back minutes before the opening, tickets were sold out. Ah …
