Swim lessons canceled this afternoon, too hot and humid to go outside, Sam and I chilled indoors and wrote. I’m working on an article for Dig Magazine on the construction of the Eiffel Tower. At our neighborhood pool, kids are banded according to height. Below 48 inches is blue. Above 48 inches is yellow. Sam is SO close to 48 inches tall but so far this summer it’s been one blue band after another. Until today when the lifeguard brought out the measuring stick and decided that Sam was at 48. Our neighbors just (as in last week) had twins and we’ve been helping out a little at their house. Unfortunately the babies haven’t been able to come home yet, but we learned today that they are probably coming home tomorrow. Sam and Susie are very excited about this and made signs to welcome them to their home.
