    We all dusted off the bikes this afternoon for a little ride along the Rivanna Trail. This is where we stopped and turned around (and none too soon, I might add, because tree roots and rocks were already conspiring to unseat me). We had just started meandering the nearby streets when Sam’s trail-a-bike got a flat tire.

    We’re not Welsh and we’ve never lived in Wales, but still when I read about this craft for St. David’s day, we just had to try it. Note for language geeks: they call it a “windmill,” whereas I think we in the States call these gizmos “pinwheels.” Happy St. David’s Day!

    I can’t decide what cracks me up more: the fact that there’s an indoor playground in Charlottesville’s “Fashion Square” Mall (very handy on a rainy day) or the fact that it’s Jeffersonian themed. Notice the stack of “books” that Sam and Benjamin are climbing on. One of them is a “Jefferson Bible.” Right outside of J.C.

    Make that the broken shredder. AC gave it a go, he really did, but even greasy thumbed “Mr. Fix-it” gave up in the end (when turning on the shredder caused a short-circuit and all the power went out in the office.)
